The Beads of Empowerment Initiative (BEI), established by MWAOCO, is a community-empowerment initiative dedicated to uplifting Maasai women and preserving the rich cultural artistry of beadwork. Through this initiative, women artisans receive high-quality beads and essential materials to create a diverse range of handcrafted products—each piece reflecting heritage, creativity, and craftsmanship.
The income generated from this project goes directly back to the community through their Village Community Bank (VICOBA), which are fully managed by the members themselves.
What We Do
Driven by a mission to empower women and youth in the Maasai community, MWAOCO ensures that artisans receive all the resources they need to create beautiful, market-ready handcrafts by providing:
